University Museum of Contemporary Art, Lunch
April 14 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am
We will visit the University Museum of Contemporary Art (UMCA), located in the UMass Fine Arts Center. Following our visit, we will dine at the Worcester Dining Commons.
Please park in the garage if you are driving to this event.
There are 3 art exhibitions scheduled at UMCA for today:
The Political Uses of Madness by Tammy Nguyen — Anchored in the Daniel Ellsberg Papers and the Vietnam War, this exhibition explores how archives can reveal, distort, or conceal truth. Through storytelling, colonial legacies, and ecological metaphors, Nguyen reflects on the complex ways history is documented and remembered.
Exhibition by Camille Turner — Informed by her research residency with Slavery North and the UMCA, Turner presents new and recent works that confront the legacy of slavery in North America. Featuring immersive video, archival encounters, and an Amherst-specific Afronautic Research Lab, this show merges critical historical research with speculative futures.
Eva Fierst Graduate Curatorial Exhibition — An annual exhibition curated by two of our graduate fellows, highlighting twenty years of the UMCA’s Graduate Curatorial Program.
